Broadband Bill Estimator
FTTH Tariffs & Taxes Calculator
Estimate is based on average 2025 FTTH pricing. This tool calculates standard telecom taxes (19.5% PST and 15% AIT). Note: AIT is adjustable on your annual tax returns. Promo discounts, hardware installation fees, and router rentals are not included.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) hate losing customers. If you feel you are overpaying, calling your ISP’s helpline (like PTCL’s 1218) and politely expressing your intention to cancel or switch to a competitor can trigger internal retention protocols.
- How it works: Tell the representative that the bill has become too expensive and you have found a cheaper package with another local provider.
- The Result: Support reps often have the authority to offer a 10% to 25% discount (sometimes lasting a few months, sometimes permanently) to keep you on their network.
Pay Annually for Mega Discounts
If you have the upfront cash, paying for your internet in advance is one of the easiest ways to slash your bill.
- Nayatel, for example, frequently offers a massive 25% discount on new connections if you pay for 12 months in advance.
- Other ISPs occasionally run similar promotions. Always ask your provider if they offer a semi-annual or annual billing discount.
Audit Your Actual Speed Requirements
Many consumers upgrade to 50 Mbps or 100 Mbps fiber-optic packages out of excitement, only to use it for basic social media scrolling and casual YouTube streaming.
- A stable 15 Mbps to 20 Mbps fiber connection is more than enough for a standard household with 3–4 devices.
- Downgrading your speed tier can save you anywhere from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000 every single month.
Unbundle Unused Services
Many ISPs sell “Triple Play” packages that bundle Internet, Smart TV (IPTV), and a Landline phone.
- If your family only watches Netflix or YouTube and never uses the PTCL Smart TV box or the landline phone, you are paying for dead weight.
- Call your ISP and downgrade to a “Single Play” (Internet-only) package. Be mindful of sneaky taxes that specifically apply to cable/TV services.
New Connection Promos
The telecom market in Pakistan is highly competitive. ISPs like StormFiber, Flash Fiber, and Transworld are constantly trying to steal customers from each other by offering heavily discounted introductory rates.
- Keep an eye on promotional campaigns in your area. Switching to a new provider often grants you waived installation fees or heavily discounted monthly rates for the first 3 to 6 months.
Reclaim Your Withholding Tax
Internet and mobile bills in Pakistan include an Advance Income Tax (Withholding Tax).
- If you are an Active Taxpayer (Filer) with the FBR, you can claim this deducted tax back when filing your annual income tax returns. While it doesn’t lower the immediate bill, it legally recovers your money at the end of the year. You can usually download your annual tax certificate directly from your ISP’s user portal.
